Why attend Career Jam?
Trends move fast in the careers industry. If you strive to be ahead of trends impacting the careers industry, job search, personal branding, leadership development, recruiting, career advancement, career planning – the core of your work with clients – you will find like-minded colleagues at Career Jam!We’re celebrating the 9th year of this event with new topics and new features! This year, you will have an opportunity to learn about top megatrends in the industry, brainstorm with your colleagues about how these are and will impact the industry, and share best practices for working with clients in light of this new information.
The megatrends we'll be considering this year include (note: these are just sample questions for discussion; facilitators will guide groups in focusing and deepening discussion):
Generations in the Workplace: Boomers are staying in the workforce longer, Millennials are demanding a new leadership style and moving into leadership themselves, and Generation Z is entering the workforce. What will this mean for recruiting/hiring? Career advising? Advancement? Leadership? The delivery of career services?
The Gig Economy: More people are choosing to work contract jobs or start side-gigs and companies are shifting from hiring full-time employees to contractors. How will personal branding and resumes shift to meet needs of these individuals? How is this changing the hiring process for all positions? How do we coach for advancement in this new world?
Education: Education is moving online. Certificates are growing in demand and degrees decreasing in importance to some hiring managers. Apprenticeships are on the rise. How will career advising and education planning adjust? How will these changes impact hiring and recruiting practices? How will they influence personal branding and career marketing?
Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI is infiltrating the hiring process, HR management practices, and automating jobs across the globe. How will job search, personal branding, and career marketing adjust as technology advances? How will recruiting and hiring change? How do we account for the rise of technology in career advising and management?
Social Branding & Screening: Along with the rise in technology comes an increased focus on online reputation. How will evolving social networks be used for hiring/recruiting? What does that mean for candidates who have a social brand (whether they want to or not!)? How will personal branding adjust?
Storytelling in Careers: From employer branding to origin stories for leaders and accomplishment stories in resumes, storytelling has seeped into every aspect of career. How will the importance of storytelling influence change in the recruiting and hiring process? How will leaders use story to advance their careers? What will next-level storytelling look like in resumes and social media profiles?
Beyond learning from and sharing with professionals across the industry, the outcomes from all these events will be compiled and published by the Career Thought Leaders Consortium in a white paper. The white paper will recognize the contributions of all Career Jam participants. In other words, you'll be published in a widely read industry document distributed to:
